SALES REPRESENTATIVE Payload Provisions — Hamilton, Montana Full-Time | $25/Hour + Uncapped Commission | $75,000–$125,000+ Earning Potential ABOUT PAYLOAD PROVISIONS Payload Provisions is a growing trailer dealership in the Bitterroot Valley specializing in quality cargo, utility, dump, tilt, flatbed, and deckover trailers. We’re looking for a motivated, outgoing Sales Representative who wants to build a career in sales—not someone who simply wants to sit behind a desk and wait for customers to walk through the door. The right person will be competitive, organized, personable, and comfortable talking with both individual customers and local businesses. You’ll have the opportunity to earn significant income by generating your own business, following up with customers, and consistently closing profitable trailer sales. COMPENSATION $25 PER HOUR BASE PAY Approximately $52,000/year based on a 40-hour work week, before commission. UNCAPPED COMMISSION Commission is based on the gross profit generated on each trailer sale: Monthly Trailers Sold Commission Trailers 1–10 Trailers 11–20 Trailers 21+ 10% of gross profit 12% of gross profit 15% of gross profit The higher commission rate applies to trailers sold within that tier. Example: If you sell 15 trailers in a month, trailers 1–10 earn 10% and trailers 11–15 earn 12%. MINIMUM COMMISSION A $150 minimum commission per trailer may apply when the calculated commission is below the minimum. EARNING POTENTIAL A strong salesperson who consistently generates business and protects gross profit can realistically earn $75,000–$100,000+ annually, with top performers having the opportunity to exceed $150,000/year. There is no commission cap. BENEFITS • 2 weeks of paid time off (PTO) • 1 week of paid sick time • $25/hour base pay • Uncapped commission • Increased commission rates based on monthly sales volume • Opportunity to earn $100,000+ annually based on performance • Opportunity for long-term advancement within a growing dealership WHAT YOU’LL DO Customer Sales • Greet and assist customers visiting the dealership. • Determine exactly what the customer needs to haul. • Ask the right questions about tow vehicles, payload, trailer size, intended use, frequency of use, and budget. • Recommend the appropriate trailer for the customer’s needs. • Demonstrate trailers and explain features and benefits. • Prepare quotes and present financing options. • Negotiate professionally while protecting dealership gross profit. • Ask for the sale and close deals. • Coordinate paperwork and trailer delivery. • Follow up with customers after the sale. Outbound Sales & Business Development You will be expected to actively generate business, not simply wait for walk-in traffic. This includes contacting: • Contractors • Landscapers • Excavation companies • Construction companies • Ranchers • Farmers • Municipalities • Small businesses • Property maintenance companies • Existing and previous customers • Prospects who previously requested information or pricing You will build relationships with local businesses and develop repeat and referral business. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Must be at least 18 years of age. • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean, reliable driving record. • Must be comfortable using computers and standard office software. • Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel, including email, calendars, basic spreadsheets, data entry, sorting, and organizing information. • Must be able to learn and effectively use dealership, inventory, financing, and point- of-sale software. • Must have strong basic math skills and be comfortable working with prices, payments, discounts, and sales figures. • Must be able to communicate professionally with customers in person, over the phone, by email, and through text messaging. • Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds when necessary, including trailer components, accessories, ramps, equipment, and other items. • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb in and out of trailers, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Must be comfortable inspecting trailers and demonstrating basic trailer features and equipment to customers. • Must be willing and able to learn trailer specifications, towing capacities, hitching requirements, financing options, and available accessories. • Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. • Must maintain a professional appearance and represent Payload Provisions in a positive manner. • Previous sales experience is preferred, but strong candidates with experience in automotive, trucks, trailers, powersports, construction, agriculture, ranching, equipment, or other related industries are encouraged to apply. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Previous sales experience, particularly in a customer-facing sales environment. • Previous experience in the trailer, automotive, truck, powersports, agricultural, construction, equipment, or related industries. • Familiarity with utility trailers, cargo trailers, dump trailers, flatbeds, tilt trailers, and other trailer types. • General understanding of towing, trailer capacities, hitching, brake systems, and trailer features. • Experience working with trucks, heavy equipment, farm equipment, or other similar products. • Experience working with financing applications, sales contracts, inventory systems, or dealership software is a plus. • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills. • Proven ability to work toward sales goals and consistently follow up with customers. • Self-motivated and competitive with a strong desire to earn through performance. • Experience working in a small-business or independently managed environment is a plus. • Mechanical knowledge or hands-on experience is a plus, but not required. DAILY EXPECTATIONS A typical day will include: Morning — Lead Review & Prospecting • Review all new leads. • Respond to overnight inquiries. • Follow up with open quotes. • Contact previous prospects. • Make outbound sales calls. • Contact local businesses and potential commercial customers. Midday — Customer Sales • Handle walk-in and scheduled customers. • Conduct trailer demonstrations. • Prepare quotes. • Discuss financing. • Work toward closing sales. • Coordinate deliveries. Afternoon — Follow-Up • Follow up with customers who have not purchased. • Schedule appointments. • Update the CRM. • Send quotes and information. • Follow up with previous customers. • Maintain online inventory listings and approved marketplace/social media activity. End of Day Every active customer should have a clear next step and follow-up date. WEEKLY PERFORMANCE TARGETS • 125+ outbound calls • 75 follow-up texts/emails • 25 new business contacts • 15 appointments • 8–12 written quotes • 4–8 trailer sales, depending on traffic, inventory, seasonality, and lead volume MONTHLY PERFORMANCE GOALS As the salesperson becomes established, the goal is to consistently produce: • 15–20+ trailer sales per month • 30–40%+ closing ratio • 100% follow-up completion • 100% CRM activity tracking • Consistent gross profit per trailer • Increasing repeat and referral business • Strong customer satisfaction and online reviews The dealership will evaluate performance based on both sales volume and profitability. CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE STANDARDS Every customer should receive a professional, helpful, and knowledgeable experience. Sales representatives are expected to: • Greet customers promptly. • Understand the customer’s needs before recommending a trailer. • Explain trailer specifications accurately. • Present appropriate options. • Provide clear pricing. • Explain financing when applicable. • Never misrepresent trailer capabilities. • Ask for the sale. • Follow up with customers who don’t purchase. • Follow up after delivery. • Request customer reviews and referrals following a successful purchase. STANDARD SALES PROCESS 1. Greet the customer. 2. Determine what they are hauling. 3. Determine the tow vehicle. 4. Determine approximate load requirements. 5. Determine intended use and frequency. 6. Establish a budget. 7. Recommend the appropriate trailer. 8. Demonstrate the trailer. 9. Explain features and benefits. 10. Present pricing and financing options. 11. Address questions and objections. 12. Ask for the sale. 13. Complete paperwork. 14. Coordinate delivery. 15. Follow up after delivery. INVENTORY & LOT RESPONSIBILITIES The salesperson will also help maintain a professional and organized sales lot. Responsibilities include: • Keeping trailers clean and presentable. • Ensuring trailers are properly displayed. • Checking that pricing is accurate. • Keeping window stickers current. • Photographing new inventory when needed. • Helping maintain accurate online listings. • Reporting damaged inventory or missing equipment. • Being familiar with available inventory. • Understanding the features and applications of different trailer types. • Identifying and actively working aged inventory.
